First Interagency Research Symposium on Health Issues of Military and Veteran Women
June 6-7, 2002
Sponsored by: Departments of Defense (DoD), Veteran Affairs (VA) and Health and Human Services (HHS)
Health Issues of Military and Veteran Women, the first interagency symposium on women's health, will be held June 6-7, 2002, at the Women In Military Service For America Memorial, in Arlington, Va. Targeted to researchers, physicians, nurses, psychologists, and other health providers, the symposium's goal is to highlight research achievements and challenges related to the health of military and veteran women. The two-day conference will feature plenary addresses, panel presentations and poster displays. Featured topics include sexual trauma, deployment considerations, environmental and occupational health, mental health, breast cancer, reproductive health, orthopedic injuries, pregnancy and breastfeeding, and gynecological health. 

Health Issues and Concerns of Women of Color
A Focus on Cardiovascular Disease

Society for Women's Health Research is co-sponsoring the Howard University Women's Health Institute's conference, "Health Issues and Concerns of Women of Color: A Call to Action III." The conference will provide a forum for health professionals and community representatives to present relevant research, service and prevention models on cardiovascular disease for ethnically and culturally diverse women.

The 2002 National Rural Women’s Health Conference will explore the correlation between mental health and the quality of life for rural women. This broad perspective integrates mental well-being with physical health, social structures, age, poverty, ethnicity, culture, environment, and other factors impacting the quality of life for women living in America’s rural communities and regions. The conference planning committee is soliciting research papers, policy papers, best practices presentations, and posters.
